Lactobacillus reuteri are Gram-positive, rod-shaped, non-endospore and anaerobic bacteria that forms chain arrangements inhabiting the human colon.
L. reuteri produces reuterin, an antimicrobial that inhibits growth of harmful bacteria, fungi, and protozoa. Due to these probiotic properties, L. reuteri is believed to be a promising therapy for the alleviation and reduction of certain illnesses related to gastrointestinal health, oral health, and urogenital health, including infantile colic, eczema, pylori infection. When it colonizes the gut, it supports the immune system and helps prevent infections.
L. reuteri is known to reduce hair thinning, stimulate follicle development, and accelerate hair growth.
It has also been shown to produce folate and cobalamin, also known as vitamin B12, nutrients that many humans, require and increased blood levels of vitamin D3 by 25.5%.
L. reuteri enhances healing by increasing oxytocin. It also fights major cavity-producing bacteria.
